Welcome to Autumn Fun at Tomtebo Strand

Join Us for a Lovely Autumn Day at Tomtebo Strand on Saturday, October 14th, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We're gathering in Sjöparken (Olle Fiskares väg 14), a soon-to-be neighborhood park at Tomtebo Strand. The day will feature a variety of activities, including a quiz walk, try-out sessions with the fire truck, family and senior workouts with IKSU, a cycling trail, canoeing, and a cozy café area.

Full Program:

  • Meet the Fire Truck – Umeå's new fire station, the first to be built at Tomtebo Strand, will be on-site with the fire truck offering a variety of "try-out" activities. Don't miss the chance to learn more about the fire station and participate in a quiz. PS: If you're lucky, Flammy might make an appearance.
  • Canoeing – Try canoeing with KFUM. Life jackets are available to borrow. For non-swimming children under 12, an accompanying adult is required. (This activity will be canceled if the weather is too windy).
  • Dirt Bikes – Try out dirt bikes with KFUM and cycle around a marked course in part of the park. Helmets are available to borrow, and the bikes are suitable for children who can cycle from around 6 years old and up.

  • Workout with IKSU - Take the opportunity to join a great outdoor session with a view of Nydalasjön. IKSU offers two different sessions:

    11:30 AM - Light Total Training - Senior Functional training with a broad mix of cardio, strength, mobility, precision, and coordination. The sessions are station-based, and you perform the exercises at your own pace. We use the body as the main tool. The session is specially adapted for seniors on this day!

    12:45 PM - Total Training Family For children accompanied by a parent, today for all ages! Functional training with a mix of cardio, strength, balance, mobility, and coordination. The focus is on togetherness and joyful movement! The sessions are station-based, and participants work at their own pace. The exercises are performed using the body as the main tool. The session lasts for 45 minutes.

  • Quiz Walk – Starting from Olle Fiskares väg at Tomtebo, we have a quiz walk leading into Vinterkul. Take the chance to win movie tickets for the family.
  • Café Area – We have a large fire pit with benches and picnic tables. Feel free to bring something to grill, a packed lunch, and something to sit on.
  • Cinnamon Buns (first come, first served) – We’ll be giving away cinnamon buns to the first 200 visitors.
  • Painting with Colors – Umecom, Umeå Municipality's citizen workshop, invites children to a colorful corner filled with all the colors of the rainbow. Together, we'll come up with fun ideas for Sjöparken in the summer.
  • Information about Tomtebo Strand – Are you curious about Umeå's new district with a focus on sustainability? Wondering what's happening next? Take the opportunity to talk to us. Representatives from Umeå Municipality, Riksbyggen, NCC, and Slättö will be on-site.


How to Get Here:

We will be at Olle Fiskares väg 14 – we encourage you to come by foot or bus.

  • Walking from Tomtebo – From the start of Olle Fiskares väg, it’s about an 8–10 minute walk (5 minutes to the start of the quiz walk).
  • Walking from Istidsgatan, Nydalahöjd – Walk via Kinabron to Olle Fiskares väg, about a 25-minute walk.
  • By Bus – Take bus line 8 and get off at the "Älvans väg" or "Nornaplatsen" stops. From there, it’s a 10-minute walk.
  • By Car – Please park at Tomtebogårds preschool, Älvans väg 266. From there, it’s about a 10-minute walk to the location. For those with limited mobility, there is also parking available at "Dialogplats Tomtebo Strand" with a limited number of spaces about 200 meters from the site.
