Welcome to Autumn Fun at Tomtebo Strand

Saturday, September 13, 11 AM–2 PM, we invite you to a lovely autumn day at Tomtebo strand. We’ll be in Sjöparken (Olle Fiskares väg 14), a new upcoming neighborhood park at Tomtebo strand. The day offers team sports try-outs, a crafts corner, bike repair and stone trolls, a quiz walk, and cozy fika. Take part in the quiz walk for a chance to win a bicycle!

Full program:

    • Information about Tomtebo strand – Curious about Umeå’s new sustainable neighborhood? Construction of infrastructure and roads will soon begin. Take the chance to ask questions and talk to us. Representatives from Umeå municipality, Peab, NCC, and Umeå Energi will be on site.

    • Check out an excavator – Road construction is about to start. But what is a road made of, and how does an excavator work? A machine operator from Streets and Parks will be there to answer questions from both kids and adults.

    • Team sports and outdoor games – GUIF and Fritidsbanken will be there offering different activities.

    • Decorate your bike – Jazz up your bike with beads, tape, and reflective stickers.

    • Pump and fix your bike – Umeå’s Cykeljuntan will help you pump tires, oil chains, and do simple repairs. Cykeljuntan is a nonprofit that teaches people how to repair and maintain their own bikes.

    • Quiz walk – win a bike – Starting from Olle Fiskares väg at Tomtebo, take our quiz walk that leads to Höstkul. This year’s prize ties in with sustainable travel at Tomtebo strand – win a black 7-speed women’s bike from Monark. Read more about the competition rules here.

    • Crafts corner – Umecom, Umeå municipality’s makerspace, invites kids to a colorful corner with paints in all the colors of the rainbow. Together, we’ll paint stone trolls to start Tomtebo strand’s new “troll trail.”

    • Fika hangout – We’ll have two fire pits with picnic tables ready. Bring something to grill, a packed lunch, or a picnic blanket.

    • Buns, juice, and fruit (first come, first served) – The first 200 visitors will be treated by Coop and Umeå municipality.


How to Get Here:

We will be at Olle Fiskares väg 14 – we encourage you to come by foot or bus.

  • Walking from Tomtebo – From the start of Olle Fiskares väg, it’s about an 8–10 minute walk (5 minutes to the start of the quiz walk).
  • Walking from Istidsgatan, Nydalahöjd – Walk via Kinabron to Olle Fiskares väg, about a 25-minute walk.
  • By Bus – Take bus line 8 and get off at the "Älvans väg" or "Nornaplatsen" stops. From there, it’s a 10-minute walk.
  • By Car – Please park at Tomtebogårds preschool, Älvans väg 266. From there, it’s about a 10-minute walk to the location. For those with limited mobility, there is also parking available at "Dialogplats Tomtebo Strand" with a limited number of spaces about 200 meters from the site.
