“Fun and unexpected to win the bike”

When this year’s Tomtebo Strand Day took place in September, the theme was cycling. In addition to giving visitors the chance to decorate, tune up and learn how to repair their bikes, there was also a bicycle to be won in the quiz walk – and the prize was claimed by Daniel, who lives in Tomtebo.

Daniel lives in Tomtebo with his family and already cycles a lot in everyday life. We had a short chat with him before he headed home on his new bike.

How does it feel to win the bike?
It was really fun and unexpected! The questions were quite difficult, so I didn’t expect to win. It was my son who guessed the number of sweets.

How often do you cycle?
I cycle to work every day, all year round – both to work and when I’m heading into the city.

What’s your best cycling tip?
Use studded tyres in winter – that way you can cycle all year round without any problems.

What is your favourite cycling route?
I really enjoy cycling in the forest, especially in the I20 area where there are great mountain bike trails. I like riding a mountain bike when it’s not about everyday transport cycling.

Any thoughts on the development of Tomtebo Strand and anything in particular you’d like to see in Sjöparken?
I hope to be able to continue cycling along Olle Fiskares väg even during the development phase. The plans for the area look great. It would be nice to have a playground and an outdoor gym – something family-friendly that more people can enjoy.

Quick facts: At Tomtebo Strand, around four kilometres of new cycle paths are planned. The entire urban district is being designed to make it easy to walk, cycle and use public transport – an important part of the work towards sustainable travel.
